OLG has been honored with the 2018 Best Overall Responsible Gambling Program award by the World Lottery Association. Suffice to mention that the corporation received the international award for the first time in the year 2014 and it is also the only lottery & gaming company in the world that has received the award twice. The announcement of the award came during the World Lottery Association biennial World Lottery Summit in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
This award is usually presented every other year and it recognizes high level of excellence in responsible gambling while rewarding Gaming and Lottery Company that has the best overall program among the over eighty members’ countries. The eligibility for the best prize is restricted to gaming operators who have level-4 certification, which is the highest level of accreditation by the World Lottery Association (WLA).
According to the President and CEO of OLG, Stephen Rigby, the Responsible Gambling program of the company is driven by a single vision which is to offer positive and healthy gambling experience to its players. He went further to say that the company has a responsibility to its players, employees, community, and business partners to offer the most efficient program that supports positive play while mitigating detrimental gambling.
The WLA specifically recognizes the PlaySmart strategic technique to responsible gambling, success of implementation of innovative and robust training programs for employees and retailer, and the commitment to nonstop improvement. The Responsible Gambling program of OLG, called PlaySmart, offers an innovative technique to educate players with the use of multimedia content at gaming sites, online, live events, and social media. The PlaySmart program is designed to help gamblers at all levels to have better understanding of the major gambling concepts, budget their play, and understand how games work, by offering gambling education that is as entertaining and fun as the gambling itself.
