There are good news and bad news to the West Virginia – based gamblers. The punters here have just let the access to the online wagering slip through their fingers. However, wait, the good news is still there for the online casino players. It all happened on Wednesday when West Virginia based land-based casinos just shut down their online betting along with their mobile betting operations. These were the Mardi Gras casino and the Wheeling Island casino. The company Delaware North is the service provider for the mobile betting services and the online sports betting services through the brand name of BetLucky.
What does that Mean to the Casinos?
The Delaware North had to take this decision of shutting down the operations temporarily due to technical issues. On Friday, they apologized to the players and said that while they stopped all the sportsbooks from accepting new bets, they were looking for solutions. They later elaborated their technical support company of Miomni Gaming faced a dispute under the contract with their third-party tech-supplier.
We need to note here is that the Nevada operations of Miomni is still going on without a hiccup. As of now, Delaware North was honoring all the bets for which the results were out and trying their best to restore the operations.
Why has this particular sportsbook’s wagering issue become so big? The Delaware North was the only online sportsbook wagering site for West Virginia citizens. The other companies like William Hill, FanDuel, and DraftKings offer wagering services at their partner brick and mortar casinos.
How is the Online Casino Scenario in West Virginia?
As of now, thanks to the WV Lottery Interactive Wagering Act, the state Senate voted 26-7 in favor of allowing the state’s top five brick and mortar casino operators to include the sections of poker and casino games to the state’s legal official gambling site.
Along with this, the state’s representatives had earlier agreed to the HB2834 but now after the above law, these new items will have to put in the proposed law too.
What Happens to West Virginia after the Bill?
After the bill passes, West Virginia will become only one of the top five states to legalize gambling online and that too in the state itself. The state will join Nevada, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey. It will be a matter of time before the bill passes, and the Gov. Jim Justice approves of the bill for restoring the online casino business soon.
