In a statement released on Monday, SJM Holdings Ltd announced a pay raise between 2.5% and 8.3% to employees. The announcement comes after many other casinos and operators already raising pay for employees since the beginning of 2019.
Though there has been no official announcement as to who would be receiving the pay hike, it is expected that the benefits will be extended to all non-executive employees. Employees earning below MOP16,000 were expecting a pay rise between 3.7% to 8.3% this year. Those with higher salaries may get a pay rise, but that would be around the 3.7% mark.
With the gaming licenses for SJM already extended until 2022 last week, the company also mentioned the new development in its statement. The company also promised that there would be 8000 new jobs at their new Cotai Casino; however, the date as to when the facility will become operational is yet to be announced.
According to the reports in the local media the new Casino Project will be completed by June 2019 as things at the venue are as per the plans.
Earlier in February, Melco Resorts and Entertainment, another casino operator in the region had announced that they would provide all of their non-executive employees with a special winter bonus. Besides, the company also announced a 2.5% to 7.5% hike in the salaries of all its non-executive employees. The revised salary slab will come into effect from April 1, 2019.
Another big Casino Operator in the region which announced a pay rise recently is Sands China. They had also announced special bonuses to specific employees depending on their individual performances.
