Tapping into new markets, Lottoland, a popular lottery operator, has now got two Licenses by the South African Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board. One of the licenses is a bookmakers license, and it allows the company to offer fixed odds betting. The other permit will enable them to develop and use their software for business operations.
The company has also gone live following the grant of licenses. The players in South Africa now have access to lotteries on the Lottoland website.
While the bookmaker license allows Lottoland to carry on the lottery operations in the country, the manufacturing license will allow Lottoland subsidiary, Lottoland Solutions to offer their services to local lottery operators and bookmakers. It would also help the local bookmakers to capitalize on the Lottoland infrastructure and offer big international jackpots to their players.
Nigel Birrell, CEO, Lottoland, said: “We are pleased to have been granted these licences in South Africa. Lottoland now holds twelve regulated licenses around the world – a great achievement for us and testament to us as a global brand and company. We strongly believe that Lottoland is uniquely placed in the South African market to be able to offer our portfolio of fixed odds lottery products and insurance-related services giving South Africans the opportunity to win some of the largest jackpots in the world!”.
While for Lottoland the two licenses is a step towards expanding their business to South Africa, being an international company, it may dwarf the local bookmakers.
