Now government employees in Mongolia will not be able to try their luck at casinos even in foreign countries.
According to a recent report from Xinhua, China’s state-run news agency, the government in Mongolia has banned the participation of state officials and government employees in any form of gambling activities.
While gambling is already illegal and prohibited in the country, the new restrictions apply on all government servants barring them from entering or engaging in any gambling activities even in foreign countries.
Talking to the press earlier today, Luvsan Namsrai Oyun-Erdene, head of the cabinet secretariat, told that “No government official is allowed to gamble.”
The new announcements are to curb the increasing participation of government employees in gambling activities. Gambling is legal in Macau and neighboring countries where a lot of Chinese and Mongolian visitors fly to try their luck.
Also, in recent years reports have surfaced of high officials of the state-owned enterprises playing at casinos in foreign countries. Citing the reports, Oyun-Erdene also justified the government’s decision to prohibit all Mongolian government employees from playing at venus even outside the country.
The announcement also stated that anyone who is found violating the restrictions would be fired straight away.
