Maryland’s casino industry has touched a new high in March as it grossed $163.3 million in revenue. The revenue posted is from the six licensed casinos operating in the state.
The March figures posted by Maryland Lottery and Gaming are 3.4% more than the previous high of $158 million the state’s casino industry generated.
What’s notable is that all six Casinos registered an increased revenue indicating that all the venues have performed par-expectations.
In a statement to the press Gordon Medenica, Maryland Lottery and Gaming Director talked about the stunning growth figures and termed it as”great news for the state.”
“It’s especially impressive at a time of intense competition and expanding gaming options in surrounding states,” he added.
Horseshoe Casino Baltimore recorded a 3 percent year-on-year hike by grossing $25.6 million in revenue for March. Hanover’s Live Casino & Hotel won the highest gainer race by hitting $62.8 million in revenue which is a 19 percent increase.
MGM National Harbor brought in $62.8 million in revenue which is 3 percent up year-on-year.
The other casinos also did well with Ocean Downs Casino registered a 12.4 percent increase in revenue.
Further, Rocky Gap Casino Resort revenue surged by 9.2 percent to $5.2 million. Hollywood Casino Perryville posted revenues up 0.5 percent to $7.2 million.
