Brazil To Legalize Sports Betting: Bill Approved by The Senate Now Pending President’s Approval

In a bid to expand gambling and gaming in the country the Brazilian Senate has approved the MP 846 bill that calls for legalizing sports betting in Brazil.

The Senate voted in favor of the bill and the country is a step closer to legalize sports betting. The only hurdle that remains for the bill to be enacted into law is the signature of President Jair Bolsonaro.

Marcos Oliveira, Head of Business Development at Clever Advertising Group said, “Affiliates are already starting to build SEO ranking websites and position themselves as the first acquisition option to new regulated operators. Like most European countries, Brazil’s main sport is football, and it has an enormous fan base of lower divisions making Brazil one of the biggest markets since the content is almost unlimited.”

“Affiliate marketing is something that has existed for a long time in Brazil with great success. We expect that established affiliates will be the first to educate all players to invest only in legal operators and to help to block any kind of advertising from non-licensed operators. If all affiliates do their jobs correctly, everyone can help drive the players to trustworthy operators where the player is always protected by local law,” he added.

Earlier Brazil had legalized casino gambling; however, the hoteliers in the country had demanded that the licenses for land-based casino gambling be issued only to the existing five-star hotels. The government is yet to decide on the issue.

Brazil’s Minister of Tourism Marcelo Álvaro Antônio had said that it is not their priority at the moment.

“I do not think Brazil has time for this issue at present, but the opening of casinos will be discussed eventually, as 95% of the developed countries already authorize them and Brazil will not be an exception,” he said.
