British Columbia’s Great Canadian Gaming is pulling out of the US casino industry. The company is all set to sell its three Washington Casinos.
Great Canadian Gaming owns and operates three casinos in Everett, Tukwila, and Lakewood in Washington state. In a statement to the press, last Friday, the company announced the sale of the three venues.
It said that they are selling their Casino operations in Washington for $56 million to Maverick Casinos of Las Vegas.
The company has only these three Washington casinos in the US.
Explaining the new move, the Great Canadian Gaming CEO, Rod Baker, said that the company is now planning to focus only on the expanding Canadian market. He also said that they have clear development plans in the domestic market.
While the company has already announced the sale, it is yet to be approved by the Washington State Gambling Commission.
Great Canadian Gaming owns and operates ten casinos in British Columbia with casinos in Ontario, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. They also run the famous Richmond’s River Rock Casino Resort.
The gambling and gaming industry has been expanding in Canada, and recently many US gambling operators have been eyeing at the lucrative markets.
Earlier last month Gateway proposed a new casino in Wasaga Beach and they have also acquired the land for the development to begin once approved by the authorities.
