Sports Betting License Approved For Yet Another Pennsylvania Casino

One more Pennsylvania Casino got a sports betting license on Wednesday. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board approved a sports betting license for Mohegan Sun Pocono. More and more casinos are getting sports betting license as Pennsylvania is nearing to launch online gambling websites in the state.

Pennsylvania is amongst the early adopters of sports betting after the US supreme court legalized it. It was the fourth state to legalize sports betting, only after New Jersey, Delaware, and Nevada.

Already six of twelve Pennsylvania casinos are offering sports betting. There are also two off-track betting parlors functional in the state.

According to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, the first batch of online gambling sites and online casinos will be live from July 15.
There are a total of 13 land-based licensed casinos operating in the state. Seven of the licensed gambling operators have already secured licenses to begin operations online with casino and poker games.

Though Pennsylvania approved new gambling laws in 2017 which paved the way for gambling expansion in the state, earlier in April this year, the Pennsylvania supreme court struck down a part of the gambling expansion law.

The apex court has now ruled that the provision in the law which allowed the state to collect 0.5 percent of all slot revenues from casinos to fund a Casino Marketing and Capital Development Account be struck off.
