Chinese Casino Disregards Orders To Cease Operations

Jin Ding Hotel and Casino, a casino operated by Chinese gambling operators have defied the official orders to cease operations. The casino is located in Cambodia’s southwestern city of Sihanoukville.

The casino had been issued an order to cease operations as the city officials found it violating the gambling regulations and also it did not have necessary permissions to continue with gambling operation in Cambodia.

According to the reports in the local media, the casino was dumping untreated sewage waste directly into the sea. This raised concerns amongst officials about a potential environmental hazard.

Kheang Phyrum, a spokesman for Sihanoukville city hall, has said that they have already notified the gambling operator to shut down and cease all operations immediately; however, the casino continues with its gambling operations.

The city officials have warned that they would take the gambling operator to court and would also file a petition to demolish the casino property.

“We will forcefully demolish the casino and file a complaint to the court,” said Kheang Phyrum.

“The casino has operated without a license, and there are no permits from local authorities. Those two reasons are enough,” he added.

The environmentalists are concerned about the disposal of untreated sewage in the sea. They have also complained that this could become a health problem for the people in the area and have demanded the permanent shutdown of the gambling venue.
