LAPD Cracks Down On Illegal Gambling Den, 35 Detained

In a recent crackdown on illegal gambling LAPD, busted an illegal gambling den that was operating from a building on the 200 block of North Vermont Avenue.

The officers at LAPD served a search warrant at the building as they had sufficient reasons to believe that illegal gambling activities were being carried out from the premises.

Once they entered and searched the premises, the officers seized multiple gaming machines, illegal drugs, and also cash. Those occupying the building also refused to vacate the premises, following which, the LAPD had to call in the SWAT team and use smoke grenades to get the building vacated.

California has strict laws against illegal gambling. According to the latest reports, at least 35 people have been detained following the raid. Those arrested have been charged with violations of 330 PC. If found guilty, they could land for up to six months in county jail, and/or a fine of at least $100 and no more than $1,000.

While it is yet not confirmed if there have been additional charges pressed on the proprietors for hosting illegal gambling, it is very likely that there would be.

Also, some of those detained could face the charges related to possession of illegal drugs found on the premises.
