Osaka has already been accepting applications for its integrated casino resort. It has announced that there have been a total of seven applicants competing for one license.
Osaka has revealed the names of five companies who have submitted their tender for developing and operating the casino resort in the Japanese province.
The five companies who have applied are Las Vegas Sands, Wynn Resorts, MGM Resorts, Melco Resorts, and Genting Singapore. Osaka has confirmed their participation.
Two other companies which are competing for a license in the RFP process have not been named as they have requested not to be identified.
Osaka authorities will be in talks with the applicants in June and will ask for full submission of their plans which would be due in August.
Osaka is looking to get its first integrated casino before the global expo in 2025.
However, the application process for the Osaka casino license could be delayed as the government of Japan is yet to issue its basic guidelines on the award of a casino license.
Given the fact that gambling and gaming market is expanding in Asia, a Japanese IR license is much coveted by gambling operators from across the world.
Earlier, MGM Resorts, one of the applicants for Osaka casino license, announced that they are ready to invest at least $9 billion in developing the gambling venue. MGM has partnered with ORIX, a local company, to make a bid for Osaka casino.
