Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission approved sports betting plans for two state casinos – Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City and Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort. The gambling regulator also approved their remodeling plans to develop the venues and allow visitors to place bets on sporting events.
Iowa already legalized sports betting, earlier this year.
The Iowa gambling authority officials are already working to formulate new regulations for launching sports betting in the state. It is expected that sports betting could be launched in Iowa by mid-August.
Administrator Brian Ohorilko said: “The industry is requesting a pretty aggressive timetable to have things implemented by August.We’re doing everything we can to do that, but making sure that we’re doing it the right way.”
He also revealed that the new regulations would be available on the commission’s website by July 1. Once thee regulation is published, a public meeting would be held to discuss the new regulations in July 11 meeting.
Earlier in May, Iowa governor Kim Reynolds signed the sports betting legalization bill. According to the new sports betting law, Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission is authorized to regulate sports gambling in the state. The commission already regulates and monitors 19 state-licensed casinos, and it says that the gambling operators are already lined up to offer sports betting at the venues.
