79 Gambling Operators Vying For A Dutch Gambling License

In a recent announcement, the Dutch gambling regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has confirmed that 79 companies are interested in a Dutch gambling license.

The gambling regulator started the registering gambling operators on June 5 and has also introduced its new remote and online gambling regulations.

Earlier in June, the gambling regulator said that the new remote gambling regulation will come into effect in July 2020. However, it said that the launch of the online gambling market in the Netherlands would not be possible until 2021.

The KSA has also said that they are committed to formulating the regulations and to ensure that the licensing process is transparent.

Gambling operators and companies have until June 21 to apply for a gambling license. Currently, the Ministry of Justice and Security is in the process of developing new legislation.

KSA has also indicated that it may require additional staff to make timelier completion of the licensing process.

In his recent statement to the press, KSA chief, Rene Jansen had said that “Such an operation requires a lot from an organization with the size of the KSA. But we do everything we can to get this done.”

As the new regulations were announced, earlier in March, the Netherlands’ Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) had announced that there will be an increase in the starting financial penalty for unauthorized online gambling.
