Parx Casino is now officially the second casino to launch online sports betting. Following the approval from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, the three days of trial run of the casino’s online sportsbook began at 4 p.m on Monday and would continue on Tuesday and Wednesday as well.
The next in line to launch online sports betting is the Rush Street owned Rivers Casino. Earlier the SugarHouse Casino, also owned by Rush Street Gaming, became the first Pennsylvania casinos to offer online sports betting in May.
According to the figures released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board on Tuesday last week, it was revealed that the as the soft launch of SugarHouse casino’s sports betting operations, the online sportsbook received $570k in bets in 72 hours.
Last week Rush Street Gaming also announced that they would rebrand the SugarHouse Casino as Rivers Casino. SugarHouse casino was also the first casino gambling establishment in Pennsylvania to offer sports betting in November last year.
Pennsylvania and New Jersey were amongst the first to legalize sports betting after the US Supreme Court legalized sports betting in the country.
The overall bets placed in Pennsylvania in May was recorded $35,934,215. Online sports betting accounted for just 1.5 percent.
