The competition for an integrated casino resort license in Japan is getting intense. All top gambling operators are seeking a Japanese IR license as the casinos in Japan is being seen as to be giving a tough competition to gambling venues in the region.
Following suit is Casino Austria which has revealed its plans to vouch for an integrated casino license in the Nagasaki prefecture – the most challenging and expensive amongst the Japanese potential casino destinations.
In the first phase, as per the new regulations, Japan would issue three casino licenses. Osaka has already revealed the names of the five gambling operators who have applied for a casino license.
While MGM Resorts International has already announced its investment plans for a casino resort in Osaka, Wynn Resorts says that they are banking on their ‘quality’ which would fetch them a Japanese IR license.
Casinos Austria have confirmed that they are in the race for a casino license in Nagasaki prefecture and their Japanese arm is in the process of forming a consortium seeking.
Akio Hayashi, Managing Director of the Casinos Austria’s Japanese unit, has said that they would be building a “European-style integrated resort” in Nagasaki unlike those in Vegas or Macau.
He also confirmed that they would develop a casino which would suit the city’s style and that they have contacted Kengo Kuma, one of the top architects in Japan.
