Melco Resorts and Entertainment have completed one year of their operations in Cyprus. It is all good for the gambling operator so far as their casinos are performing well.
The gambling operator organized a conference to celebrate one year of their operations in Cyprus, which was attended by top officials from Melco.
Addressing the conference and talking to the press, Melco CEO Lawrence Ho said that in one year, the three casinos operated by Melco saw a total footfall of 880,000 visitors. Limassol saw the maximum number of visitors; 710,000 total. The satellite casinos of Nicosia and Larnaca got 130,000 and 40,000 visitors respectively.
“I’m extremely happy with our first year of operations here in Cyprus, progress has been swift, and the local economy is already benefitting from the strong partnership we’ve created with CNS Group,” Meclo chairman said in his address to the press.
“Everything is in place for significant and sustainable growth. The government has a clearly-defined vision, the community is supporting us, and the success of the satellite and pop-up casinos we’ve already opened are evidence of strong consumer demand,” he continued.
Melco is already developing another casino in Cyprus – The City of Dreams Mediterranean. The construction work started in April this year, and the casino resort is expected to be welcoming guests in 2021. The entire project is estimated at $617 million.
Talking about the City Of Dreams in Cyprus, Mr. Ho said that “Once open, our integrated casino resort, City of Dreams Mediterranean, will rewrite the tourism guides to Cyprus and make this beautiful island an internationally recognized year-round destination.”
