Casino and hospitality giant MGM Resorts is reportedly going to increase the resort fee at its three resorts at ARIA, Bellagio, and Vdara.
According to the reports, the daily resort fee is to go up from $39 to $45. The revised fee is to come into effect from August 1.
While the decision to increase the daily resort fee has been criticized by many on Twitter, the Mariott is also facing a lawsuit for having a misleading resort fee.
Talking about the lawsuit, DC Attorney General Karl Racine said that he was suing Marriott International for charging customers deceptive ‘resort fees’ when booking hotel rooms.”
“Through these fees, Marriott hides the true price of rooms and misleads customers to increase company profits,” he added.
The lawsuit alleges discrepancies and reads: “Marriott conceals the true total price of hotel rooms by advertising one rate, then charging mandatory ‘resort fees,’ ‘amenity fees,’ or ‘destination fees’ on top of the advertised price. At least 189 Marriott properties worldwide charge these hidden fees, which range from $9 to as much as $95 per room per day, and consumers only find out about these fees after they begin to book a room.”
Resort fees have increased significantly in Las Vegas over the past few years.
