Lucy Buckley, CEO of online casino and gaming software supplier Nektan has resigned just 10 months after her appointment.
Commenting on its CEO’s resignation, Nektan said that Buckley will “remain available to the board for a period of time.” The company also said that they would make a further announcement in this regard.
As of now, Gary Shaw, Nektan Founder and Executive Director, has been appointed as an interim CEO.
Commenting on her resignation, Buckley said: “As part of the recent restructuring of the business, now is the right moment for me to step away from the role of CEO.
“The business has a solid foundation of proprietary technology and fast-growing B2B business that will help it capitalize on the many global opportunities ahead.”
Earlier, the CEO had been optimistic about the company’s performance in the last quarter of the current fiscal. However, things didn’t go well and Nektan’s Q4 revenue slipped 29% year-on-year, to £4.1m ($5m).
Commenting on the company’s disappointing performance, Buckley said that “A number of steps to enhance our product offering, including the launch of bingo and improved player journeys, have been completed in Q4 and we look forward to the new financial year with optimism.”
It should be noted that her resignation followed the financial report which was released just two weeks ago. Buckley was appointed CEO of Nektan in December 2018.
