In an announcement made on Tuesday, Rivers Casino confirmed the beginning of construction work of its Landing Hotel. The proposed hotel property will connect to the casino on the city’s North Shore.
While the Landing Hotel project was announced long ago it is only now that the construction is starting and the casino officials expressed their disappointment on causes of the delay while making the announcement.
Greg Carlin, CEO of Rivers and its parent company, Rush Street Gaming, said that the changes to gambling regulations in Pennsylvania and the launch of sports betting operations in the state will take its toll on the new project and that these factors also contributed to a delay in making the decision.
“It would have been nice to do it on the five-year anniversary, but we had lots of starts and stops along the way,” he said. “Everything’s lined up and we’re excited to be finally started on the project. This is going to be the nicest hotel on the North Shore.”
The new Hotel will host 219 rooms and also 10 luxury terrace suites. The expected deadline for the completion is early 2021.
The entire project will be funded partly by Rush Street Gaming and Walton Street Capital. The project is expected to create 128 permanent jobs and 1400 construction jobs.
