The city of Waukegan has revealed the names of all six companies who have tendered their proposals to develop prospective Waukegan casino. Earlier, state Gov. J.B Pritzker signed a massive gambling expansion bill which allowed for new casinos at six different locations.
New Casinos are to be developed in Waukegan, Chicago, Rockford, Danville, Williamson County, and Cook county.
Six companies vying for a Waukegan casino contract are Rivers Casino Des Plaines, Waukegan Gaming LLC, Waukegan Development Associates LLC, Next Realty LLC, Chesapeake Gaming Group, and Milwaukee-based Potawatomi Hotel and Casino and Lakeside Casino LLC.
Churchill Downs and Rush Street Gaming who jointly own and operate the popular Rivers casino Des Plaines had already confirmed that they are vying for a casino license in Waukegan, Illinois.
In a joint statement, the two operators said earlier that their casino project would create over 1,200 permanent jobs and 900 temporary construction jobs. The casinos would also contribute to the local economy to the tune of $150 million annually.
The Waukegan city’s director of planning and economic development had earlier confirmed that they have received proposals from six prospective developers.
Last week, Mayor of Danville announced that the city has received its third proposal to develop a prospective casino.
