New York’s Sports Betting sector posted a strong performance with Sportsbooks posting double revenues for August.
The figures released by the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) reveal that the commercial casinos in New York generated $783,896 in revenue from sports betting in August.
Earlier in July, New York sportsbooks grossed $349,468 in total revenues from sports betting operations.
The top contributor remains the sportsbook at Rivers Casino in Schenectady which grossed $445,291 in sports betting revenue.
Trailing Rivers Casino sportsbook was the FanDuel sportsbook at Tioga Downs which picked $87,774 in revenue representing a 59% month-on-month increase over July.
Recently opened DraftKings sportsbook at del Lago grossed $182,950 in revenue.
Last month, Sports betting operations were launched at Oneida Nation casinos – Turning Stone Casino Resort and Point Place Casino. The betting lounges of the tribal casinos are the first to offer sports betting in Central New York.
Sports Betting was launched in New York earlier in July this year. The state is yet to regulate mobile sports betting and remote gambling. As such, sports gambling in the state is limited to a few commercial casinos and tribal gambling facilities.
The decision to omit mobile sports betting was also met with criticism as for some it is not a very logical approach. The proponents of mobile betting in the state say that most of the betting today takes place through the internet.
