Gaming technology and services provider, Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has inked a partnership deal with gambling and hospitality giant Hard Rock International to launch sports betting operations at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City.
The sportsbook at the gambling facility will initially be a land-based offering; however, both GIG and Hard Rock have plans to launch mobile betting operations as well.
Hard Rock’s senior vice president of online gaming, Kresimir Spajic, said, “We’re excited to extend our partnership with GiG to support sports betting in Iowa, and further grow our sportsbook portfolio.”
Commenting on the partnership with Hard Rock, Richard Brown, acting Chief Executive Officer of GiG added: “After a successful launch in New Jersey, I am delighted to further deepen the relationship with Hard Rock, delivering on our strategy to grow with our partner by entering a new state in the US with our sportsbook.
Last week, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission released its first-ever sports betting figures for the first 17 days of action after launching sports betting operation at state casinos.
Iowa casinos took over $8.5 million in wagers on sporting events.The sportsbooks at Iowa casinos grossed about $2.2 million in winnings. The majority of the bets were placed on local college-level sports.
