Hard Rock Hotel and casino launched sports betting operations on Friday at 3 pm, as announced earlier. However, at present, only over the counter sports betting is available at the gambling facility.
Hard Rock has said that they are planning to launch mobile and online sports wagering options by the end of the year.
“Whether you are seasoned at sports betting or if you are new to the game, our sportsbook team looks forward to providing a professional but personal approach to make sure your experience rocks,” said Director of Sportsbook Operations, Anthony Torres.
The sports betting lounge at the Sioux City casino features a 400 square feet action area. Earlier this year in June, Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission approved sports betting plans for two state casinos – Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City and Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort. The gambling regulator also approved their remodeling plans to develop the venues and allow visitors to place bets on sporting events.
Recently, Iowa became the 11th US state to launch sports betting operations. Sports betting was launched at Iowa casinos on August 15. State Gov. Kim Reynolds signed the sports betting legalization bill in May.
Last week, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission released its first-ever sports betting figures for the first 17 days of action after launching sports betting operation at state casinos.
While Iowa casinos took over $8.5 million in wagers on sporting events, the sportsbooks grossed about $2.2 million in winnings.
