Mississippi Sports Betting Revenue Jump 19.2% In September

The newly regulated sports gambling market in Mississippi is thriving. According to the latest figures released by the state’s Gambling Commission sportsbooks in Mississippi grossed $37.9 million in revenue for the previous month.

The figure represents a 19.2 percent increase in revenue in September.

Mississippi grossed $5.6 million in tax earnings from sports betting operations. The sportsbook in central Mississippi witnessed a 75.6% increase in revenue with bookmakers recording a 15.29% win rate.

The state’s coastal casinos brought the maximum revenue from sports betting operations. The sportsbooks at Mississippi’s coastal casino took $25.4 million in revenue representing a 14.7% year-on-year increase.

The increase in revenue for September has largely been attributed to the current NFL season which saw increased wagers on football across sportsbooks in the state.

In its recent statement, the American Gaming Association welcomed the state’s decision to launch legalized mobile sports betting and said that the casino gambling industry is crucial for Mississippi’s growth.

The AGA concluded its study into the impacts of casino gambling across several US states. In its new study, the gaming association confirms that the casino gaming industry in the state ‘strengthens communities by providing good jobs, supporting small businesses and partnering with local charities.’

The casino gambling sector in the state employs about 37,277 people and generates $1.6 bn in wages.
