Recently launched regulator sports betting market in West Virginia continues to expand. The revenues from sports betting operations in the state have jumped once again in October.
Revenue from betting operations for the four weeks through to 26 October was reported $4.6m. The betting handle across both retail and mobile betting apps totaled $29 million.
While retail betting continues to be the most popular at $2.7m in revenue and $16.3m in the betting handle, the mobile betting market reported a handle of $12.7m for the month and $1.8m in revenue.
Leading the market in October was Penn National Gaming’s Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races. The sportsbook at the gambling facility $3.5m for October processing $19.1m in bets.
The Draftkings sportsbook at the Hollywood Casino had grossed $1.3m of total mobile sports betting revenue in West Virginia last month, as its retail revenue amounted to $2.2m.
Last month, according to the figures released by West Virginia Lottery Commission, the revenue from mobile sports betting apps in the state topped $1 million in September. The revenue for the first week of the launch in late August was $25,000.
Earlier in the year n March, Governor Jim Justice, signed the West Virginia Lottery Interactive Wagering Act (HB2934) making it the fifth state in the US to legalize online gambling.
