UK-based betting operator, Bet365 has set up a dedicated DevOps team to streamline and progress its automation process to optimize several processes including monitoring, reporting, and self-diagnostics/healing.
The operator aims at improving automation across a range of fields including support software development, reduce delays in the roll-out of new applications, and improve site reliability.
Bet365 instituted a dedicated department for the purpose, headed by Steven Briggs. Commenting on the development, Briggs explained that he does not see “DevOps changing software development practices”, but provides assistance in an organization’s effort to keep up with “the consistent need to release software while ensuring the platform remains stable and secure.”
“We want to give operations the tooling, dashboards, and automation needed to increase the value it offers the business”, Mr. Briggs further pointed out. He said that bet365’s DevOps department would “build a view of how all parts of the system work together and progress engineering principles that make monitoring, reporting and self-diagnostics/healing more achievable.”
Recently, Bet365 announced to downsize staff. It announced to lay off about 80 percent of its staff in Gibraltar as the company plans to move to Malta.
Bet365 has been strategically shifting its base to Malta in light of uncertainties looming due to Brexit. While the company has said that it will be maintaining a presence in Gibraltar, it has not said how long or in what capacity.
