Montana Lottery Commission Approves Sports Betting Rules

The Montana Lottery Commission has approved official sports betting rules which would be applicable for sports gambling in the state. The gambling regulator also revealed the official name: Sports Bet Montana.

The new rules approved by the regulator allows for sports betting operations at business venues like taverns and casinos which have secured official betting license.

According to the sports gambling regulations, in-person betting will be allowed at all licensed gambling facilities. Players will also be able to create “sports wagering accounts” with the state that would allow them to bet using electronic devices.

The state lottery also allows players to limit their accounts in terms of spending as a measure to promote responsible gambling. The players can also self-exclude themselves from gambling altogether.

Earlier in the year in May, Montana became the 10th US state to legalize sports betting after state Governor Steve Bullock signed SB 25 and HB 725 into law which called for legalizing sports betting in the state. The bill was introduced by Sen. Mark Blasdel and Rep. Ryan Lynch.

According to the reports, about 1,400 locations in Montana could qualify to host sports gambling as per the current draft sports betting rules.

Montana Lottery is tasked with monitoring and supervising the state’s sports gambling laws approved by lawmakers earlier in the year.
