This holiday season Gun Lake Casino in Michigan raised and contributed $53,000 in charity to five West Michigan counties.
The gambling facility collaborated with 11 food organizations and also with Lakeshore Toys for Tots to reach to those in need.
Commenting on the endeavor, Jose Flores, vice president, and general manager of Gun Lake Casino said: “Gun Lake Casino recognizes the challenges local residents face during the holiday season. It is no secret that many cannot afford toys for their children or food for the table. It is our mission to serve and support those who need it the most.”
The casino also said that it is the eighth year that they are collecting toys for Lakeshore Toys for Tots for the holiday season. The casino collected toys as gifts for children aged 0-16 between Nov 25 and December 15.
The guests at the gambling facility supported the drive and with their support, the casino managed to raise $35,000 in toys for local children. This year the funds for the gifts were three times more than what the casino had raised last year for the holiday season.
In a ceremony to recognize the supporters of Toys For Tots, Larry Klunder, Mark Peterson, and Michelle Peterson, members of the Marine Corps Reserve, presented an award plaque.
“Lakeshore Toys for Tots greatly appreciates the contributions from Gun Lake Casino and their guests,” said Larry Klunder.
“Without their help, many children would go without toys this Christmas. It is an honor to partner with Gun Lake Casino to help the children and families of Allegan County.”
Gun Lake casino also tried to address the issue of hunger and hosted a Game of Giving. It was a private event for 11 local food organizations.
