Manchester United have reportedly blocked a transfer move between Ashley Young and Inter Milan following the rejection of a contract offer to the player.
The former England and Manchester United midfielder is a free agent in the summer but is eager to get the deal done early in January instead.
However, despite Inter Milan offering to pay a transfer fee for Young, Manchester United have blocked the move amid injury worries in the squad, which could potentially leave the team short of midfield options.
Fans of both Young and United have been critical of the clubs actions as the contract offer was seen as too late to save the player from leaving Manchester United for Italy.
Current Inter manager Antonio Conte has always been a fan of Ashley Young, which is one of the reasons why he was prepared to pay to transfer him during the January transfer window, despite a deal being all but done in the summer.
Reports suggested that despite the objection to the early deal, there is still a possibility that Young could become an Inter player by the end of January 2020 and Beppe Marotta, CEO of Inter refused to rule out the January move.
Manchester United are currently 5th in the English Premier League and face Norwich City at home in their next match, whereas Inter Milan are leading Serie A in Italy and are playing Atlanta in a Saturday evening fixture.
Ashley Young is currently at odds of 7/1 to score any time during the Manchester United Vs Norwich match, which suggests he still could make an appearance in the clash at Old Trafford this Saturday.
