USA – It has been announced today that Delware North, the hospitality and gaming corporation, has negotiated a deal with International Game Technology (IGT) to provide residents in West Virginia and Arkansas with sports betting services.
The deal will see IGT introduce its PlaySports product to a number of establishments currently owned and operated by Delaware North, including Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack – previously named Wheeling Downs – in Wheeling, West Virginia and Mardi Gras Casino and Resort located in Nitro, West Virginia.
International Game Technology’s PlaySports product is a business to business sports betting platform that is currently in operation in over ten different US states. It processes an estimated 10 billion Euro in sports bets per year in New York, Nevada and New Jersey among others.
Reportedly, the deal between IGT and Delaware North will allow residents in West Virginia to be able to wager on sports both online and offline in selected casino venues in the Mountain State.
In addition, the agreement will provide the opportunity for Arkansas residents to place offline bets on sports at Southland Casino Racing in West Memphis. The Wonder City’s casino and racetrack currently sees over four hundred greyhound races take place at the venue every year.
The combined population of both states is an estimated 4.7 billion, many of whom will now have access to sports betting facilities for the first time in the states’ history.
