UK – It has been reported today that a major online casino in the United Kingdom has written to its affiliate publishers to remand that they cease advertising for its casino and live casino products.
Mr Green, who’s full company name is Mr Green Limited, is a leading gaming and sports betting brand in Britain that was founded in 2007.
Regulated by the Malta Gaming Authority, Mr Green was acquired by William Hill PLC at the start of last year for a figure reportedly in the region of 280 million Euro.
As of today, the major online casino provider has contacted affiliate publishers with an urgent notice to terminate all marketing materials currently promoting casino or live casino games and offers.
Instead, the marketing materials are being switched from its casino product to sports betting amid recent changes in compliance in the United Kingdom.
The request by Mr Green stated:
It is reported that there had been no prior notice to receiving the termination request.
The notice also stated:
“UK affiliates must remove all materials promoting these products in the UK such as banners, text links, pop ups, social posts and any other marketing materials for the UK.”
Despite recent changes in compliance affecting the William Hill owned casino products, affiliates are still allowed to promote its sports betting offers and markets:
“Mr Green UK Sports are still available to promote. Therefore, we have replaced all Mr Green Casino and Live Casino banners with sportsbook banners. We kindly ask that if you see any casino or live casino banners still on your site, to let your account manager know.”
Although the request was vague in details of why it had issued the termination notice, it did state that it is looking to reactivate its promotional materials as soon as possible:
“We are working hard to resolve this issue and will be sure to let you know once you are able to promote Mr Green UK Casino and Live casino once again.”
