USA – It has been reported today that Bensalem Township Police Department, the police agency responsible for crime prevention and criminal apprehension, has charged a man as a getaway driver in an armed robbery case, which took place last week outside Parx Casino and Racing.
The man has been accused of assisting two others, who robbed another individual at gun-point, as being the driver following the robbery near the beginning of February 2020.
Parx Casino and Racing, formerly Philadelphia Park Racetrack and Casino, is a thoroughbred horse racing venue and the largest casino gaming complex in Pennsylvania.
The venue is owned and operated by Greenwood Racing Incorporated and offers over 3000 slot machines and table games for baccarat, blackjack, roulette and craps.
According to reports, the man’s attorney claims that he did not see the robbery or had any involvement in it.
Authorities in the region stated that two men were present in the car park of Parx Casino and Racing, whereby they approached another man in his car and demanded cash from him at gunpoint. The criminals then fled the scene in the getaway car that was waiting with a driver already in.
Before the incident took place, the three accused individuals were caught on camera following the victim inside the Parx Casino and Racing establishment before they made their move.
Following the armed robbery, Police officers in Philadelphia tracked the driver down, who was said to be wearing the same clothes as in the camera footage when the robbery took place.
The man was charged with attempted robbery, theft, and conspiracy to commit offenses.
According to local Police, the case is still ongoing and the other two individuals are yet to be charged.
