Asian Gambling Trade Show Postponed For Two Months Amid Coronavirus

Macau – It has been announced today that an Asian gambling trade show; the Global Gaming Expo Asia also known as G2E Asia, has been postponed for two months until the end of July 2020 following concerns surrounding the coronavirus outbreak, including travel restrictions and precautions.

G2E Asia, the annual Global Gaming Expo Asia is presented by the American Gaming Association and organized by Reed Exhibitions.

The three day event, which usually takes place annually in the month of May, has been set back two months to the 28th July 2020.

Reportedly, organisers of the trade show, which is hosted at The Venetian Macao; a luxury hotel and casino resort in Macau owned by the American Las Vegas Sands company, have been locked in ongoing discussions with exhibitors and believe that it is in the interests of all involved to postpone this year’s meeting.

Organisers state the following in the announcement:

“Like all of you, we have carefully monitored the global health crisis related to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Our top priority is ensuring a safe environment for employees, customers, and exhibitors at Global Gaming Expo Asia (G2E Asia). In consultation with our exhibitors and the Macao government, and out of an abundance of caution, we are postponing G2E Asia 2020.”

The statement expanded on the details of the postponement and outlined that it is not a decision that was taken lightly:

“G2E Asia, and its organizers the American Gaming Association and Reed Exhibitions, fully understand and appreciate the level of planning that is required to participate in an event like ours. Regrettably, the COVID-19 outbreak and related travel and commercial restrictions make those preparations too difficult to hold the show as planned in May. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. We will continue to monitor the situation and remain in close contact with all G2E Asia stakeholders in the coming weeks.”

Chief operating officer of event organiser Reed Exhibitions said:

“We made this decision in consultation with our exhibitors and the Macau government, and out of an abundance of caution. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause and thank our customers for their continued support of G2E Asia.”

Global Gaming Expo Asia (G2E Asia) is the premier Asian trade event and the largest regional sourcing platform for global gaming and entertainment products. G2E Asia services suppliers by enabling them to showcase new products, meet qualified buyers and establish new contacts.
