Grosvenor Casinos, one of the largest European casino and poker operators with a large presence in the UK, has announced the date for this year’s Goliath Poker Tournament, which will take place at the firm’s poker arm of its website.
This annual event usually takes place offline at a local venue, but this year will mark a momentous occasion as Grosvenor Casinos reveal that the tournament will be held online instead.
Although the reason for the decision to host the competition online is yet to be clarified, it is believed due to the unprecedented times the UK, Europe and rest of the world are experiencing has played its part.
Goliath is an annual poker tournament with a ten year history and is a ‘large-field, deepstack poker tournament’ that offers prizes from a share of £300,000 prize pool.
Last year, the competition’s main event experienced more than nine-thousand entries, which make it the ‘biggest poker tournament in the world outside of the USA’.
Poker players getting involved in this year’s tournament will be able to enjoy fifteen huge events and a guaranteed £100,000 main event.
The tournament starts on the 1st August 2020 and runs until the 10th August 2020.
Satellites are running every day until the end of Goliath.
Players can qualify for every Goliath event for pennies with Grosvenor Step satellites starting from 25p.
The Opener, a 2 day event, kicks off the tournament at 4pm on Saturday 1st August 2020 with a guaranteed £20k and a £50+5 buy-in.
In addition, Grosvenor Poker is also putting an extra two-thousand pounds in additional prizes for the top ten Goliath poker players of the tournament with points up for grabs for finishing higher up the leader-board.
