It has been announced that online sports lottery service provider in China, 500.com, has resumed business operations in Sweden following the renewal of its operator license.
The firm currently operates in Sweden under its subsidiary The Multi Group, which is registered in Malta, and has been granted another two year license for its lottery and casino gambling services.
The license was awarded by Spelinspektionen, the Swedish Gambling Authority, after it suspended the operator’s license due to a failure to renew on time.
According to reports, the delay to renew the license was in-part due to the ongoing corruption scandal in Japan at the time.
500.com stated that it intended to renew and resume operators in February 2020 but reinstating the license was delayed.
Reportedly, more than half of the company’s subsidiary revenues are genrated from the Swedish gambling market.
Those who were looking to get an update to the Japanese corruption scandal are out of luck as no further information has been provided and investigations are still ongoing.
500.com was among the first companies to provide online lottery services in China and provides online lottery sales services on behalf of the China Sports Lottery Administration Center.
