It has been announced today by award winning iGaming content provider Microgaming that elite marathon runner Ollie Lockley has been named the firms latest PlayItForward Ambassador.
PlayItForward is Microgaming’s corporate social responsibility programme, which aims to give back to communities around the world in order to power positive change for ‘people, place and planet’.
The programme has been operating for the last six years and has invested in almost £2 million in community projects along with supporting the arts and community events at the home of Microgaming HQ the Isle of Man.
Elite distance runner and Microgaming PlayItForward Ambassador Ollie Lockley commented on the role:
“I am delighted that I have been selected as an ambassador for Microgaming PlayItForward.
I hope I can use my athletic journey to help promote the physical and psychological benefits of running, and to inspire the next generation of youngsters on the Isle of Man.”
Ollie Lockley was named as an ambassador just days before he made history by becoming the Isle of Man’s fastest marathon runner of all time, completing the elite men’s race at the 2020 London Marathon in just two hours, 19 minutes and 40 seconds, and shaving almost four minutes off the previous Manx record.
The PlayItForward ambassadors programme has been helping individuals of the highest calibre to succeed on a global stage for several years.
Ollie joins long-running ambassador and para-swimmer Ben Grainger, who has been supported by the initiative to compete at a national, European and international level.
Driven to succeed at the highest level, Ollie’s first ambitious career goal is to represent the Isle of Man at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
