It has been announced within the last hour that casino operating holding company Casino Queen Holdings is to acquire Belle of Baton Rouge from Caesars Entertainment as the sale is agreed.
Belle of Baton Rouge is a casino hotel situated in Baton Rough in Louisiana and was founded in the early 1990’s. The property has a reputation for providing top quality casino gaming in the region and offers a Riverboat Casino experience on the Mississippi River with three floors of gaming action that can be enjoyed around the clock.
Overall the casino houses more than 750 casino slot machines and has a video poker bar for patrons.
According to reports, the terms of the agreement are still yet to be finalised for the lease agreement with Gaming and Leisure Properties and further details will be ironed out and released in the coming days.
However, what is known is that the rent payments to Gaming and Leisure Properties will remain unchanged and the firm will retain ownership of the real estate.
Baton Rouge will be removed from the Master Lease of Gaming and Leisure Properties and the property will become part of Casino Queen’s ownership.
Reportedly, the deal is expected to fully complete during the second or third quarter of next year, subject to regulatory approvals and other ‘customary closing conditions’.
CEO of Caesars Entertainment Tom Reeg shared his comments on the transaction:
“I want to thank all of our Baton Rouge Team Members for their hard work and dedication, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We wish them the best under Casino Queen’s ownership.”
