It has been announced that the city of New Orleans in Louisiana is to be moved forward with reinvestment in Harrah’s New Orleans by Caesars Entertainment, to transform it in to Caesars New Orleans
The owners have shared their plans of the transformation with investment to the tune of more than $300 million to renovate the property and enhance the venue with construction and improvements, which are expected to complete by 2024.
CEO of Caesars Entertainment Tom Reeg shared his comments on the announcement:
“We are excited to introduce Caesars New Orleans to the city.
As the only land-based gaming operator in the city, we take great pride in our 20-year history in New Orleans, and this reinvestment is a testament to our continued commitment.”
As part of the reinvestment, which reaffirms the testament of Caesars’ continued commitment to the property and New Orleans, is expected to bring about a brand new hotel tower with over 300 rooms, new hospitality facilities within the casino and development of the casino floor on the second floor, along with architectural enhancements.
Caesars Entertainment is excited to reveal the new plans for Caesars New Orleans to residents and visitors to New Orleans, of which the company has a twenty year history in the city.
The investment is expected to move New Orleans forward and fuel economic recovery to bring in working and entertainment opportunities.
Mayor of New Orleans LaToya Cantrell also commented on the news:
“We will continue to move this city forward and fuel our economic recovery, moving important projects that put people to work and entertain residents and visitors alike.
We are excited that this expansion will mean hundreds of construction jobs during the project and hundreds more in sustainable and new jobs post-construction.
The addition of Caesars New Orleans will strengthen our city’s position as the top cultural and entertainment destination city in the nation.”
The expansion of the property will bring ‘hundreds’ of jobs whilst the development is taking place and many more sustainable employment and new opportunities once the expansion is complete.
Caesars Entertainment, liaising closely with the Mayor of New Orleans aims to bolster New Orleans presence and become a top cultural and entertainment destination in the United States.
General Manager of Harrah’s New Orleans Samir Mowad also spoke out about the investment and renovation:
“As a native of New Orleans, I am so proud that we are working with local architects and designers to help enhance an already incredible destination.
What was shared today is only the beginning of a transformation that will bring new energy, excitement, and fun to New Orleans.”
Overall, between the development project taking place and once construction has finished, more than 1000 jobs will have been created for and from the project.
