Why online betting and gaming is surging in Virginia as Bally's Corporation approved

Earlier today, we reported the launch of WynnBet in the US state of Virginia and as Bally’s Corporation is the latest company to be approved for online sports betting and gaming, people are sking why is activity surging in the region?

In the second half of last year, the state legalised sports betting and joined a list of some twenty other US states to do so.

This means that gambling operators were able to apply for permits to launch services in the state that would allow residents to gamble online and on mobile apps.

Following the approval of Wynn Resorts’ digital betting arm in the state, Bally’s Corporation has now received a temporary permit to provide its services in Virginia.

Bally’s Corporation is currently one of the leading land based gaming providers in the United States and will begin providing its best in class sports betting services on digital platforms.

Sports fans will be able to bet on sports and play games via the new platform that is being tailored specifically for the Virginia population of almost nine million people.

Bally’s Corporation is now active in more than ten states across America with more market entries planned as and when legalised.

Virginia is the newest state in the US to legalise sports betting and is looking to take an estimated $400 in handle per year and more than $60 million in tax revenue.

The state is also becoming one of the hottest in the industry for new operators, software developers and players looking to wager online.

The Virginia Lottery is the organisation that has the authority to provide sports betting permits and is currently meeting demand with quick turnaround times on applications and approval.

Bally’s Corporation is currently working towards being a leader in online betting and gaming in the United States and this latest move marks a significant step in the firm’s growth strategy.

President and Chief Executive Officer of Bally’s Corporation George Papanier commented:

Bally’s is pleased to receive the temporary sports wagering permit from the Virginia Lottery.

This represents another step in our evolution to become the leading omni-channel gaming provider in the U.S., and we look forward to providing a first-class experience for sports fans across Virginia.
