World Poker Tour to get own free TV channel on SPORTS.TV from Allen Media Digital

It has been announced today that the World Poker Tour is set to get its very own free TV channel on a brand new video streaming service SPORTS.TV, alongside an array of other free to watch channels including Swerve Sports and Allied E-sports.

The new service is set to launch from Allen Media Digital, a new division of Allen Media Group from Byron Allen and will have its own app, allowing poker and sports fans to tune in for a fix of their favourite games and sports, including highlights and podcasts.

Byron Allen, an American businessman who partnered with Sinclair Broadcast Group to acquire Fox Sports Networks, is behind the new service that promises to deliver more than sixty free TV channels, including World Poker Tour, which will provide a multitude of features to subscribers, including sales of merchandise and betting facilities.

World Poker Tour is without a doubt the biggest brand on the poker scene and is watched by millions of poker fans around the world. Events and tournaments have been held since the brand launched in 2002 and footage is currently available on Fox Sports Network in the United States and BT Sport in the United Kingdom.

Launching initially on major digital platforms, including IOS and Android, SPORTS.TV will provide 24 hour streaming on channels, seven days a week, completely free of charge.

The current owners of the brand, Element Partners, acquired World Poker Tour last year and will continue to provide quality tournaments and events that poker fans will be able to tune in to. The next event to take place on World Poker Tour is the WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, which has a buy-in of $3,500 and a guaranteed total prize pool of $2 million.

Founder of Allen Media Group Byron Allen shared his comments on the new service and why it was launched:

After many years, we have successfully combined the world’s two favourite words–sports and free.

Advertisers spend more than $50 billion per year to reach this highly-coveted sports demographic, and I’m happy to announce that SPORTS.TV has already received enormous ad support.

SPORTS.TV is an innovative free-streaming service connecting sports fans to their favourite sports content, giving our subscribers complete access to all of their favourite teams and players on every device 24/7 for free.
