9 Arrested In Kuala Lumpur In A Raid On Makeshift Online Gambling Centre

Police in Malaysian Capital Kuala Lumpur has busted yet another illegal online gambling center after it raided a raided a four-storey luxury bungalow in Kuchai Lama. The building was being used as an online gambling center.

The police have also arrested nine suspects who were present on the premises. Those detained are Malaysians. The police have said that those arrested are employees and that further investigation is ongoing.

It has been told that the illegal gambling operators had taken the bungalow on rent and that it was located in a luxury residential area.

“The suspects were found to have been running an online gambling operation for the local and China market.

“All nine were brought to the Brickfields district police headquarters to be investigated under Section 4(1)(c) and (d) of the Betting Act 1953,” the police chief said in a statement to the press.

Online gambling is illegal in Malaysia. Earlier in April, the police had arrested 8 suspects in a raid on two different locations on the same premises in Kuala Lumpur.

The police had seized a modem and 15 laptops from the suspects. They said that the suspects were planning to set up a full-fledged online gambling center.

While the police had confirmed that they have also seized cash, the amount was undisclosed.
