Atlantic City Casinos On Their Way To Gross Record Revenue This Year

Casinos in Atlantic City are on their way to gross record revenue this year. Currently, there are nine casinos in the state eyeing at $3 billion in revenue for the year.

The Atlantic City casinos last posted a $3 billion+ revenue back in 2012. At that time the city had 12 operational casinos and online gambling, there was no sports gambling though.

Last year, Atlantic City casinos posted total revenue of $2.86 billion.

The Press of Atlantic City quotes James Plousis, chairman of the Casino Control Commission attributes the industry’s success this year to ‘capital investments at nearly every property as well as a focus on customer service for both new and returning guests.’

“All the casinos have upped their game in regards to entertainment and amenities,” Plousis said. “I think all of these things are paying off. We’re trending in the right direction.”

The casinos in the city have so far posted $2.46 billion in total gaming revenue, according to data from the state Division of Gaming Enforcement.

The revenue from gambling activities so far this year is 15.8% higher compared to the same period last year.

Sports betting has contributed $77 million in revenue for Atlantic City casinos and their online partners thus far in 2019.

New Jersey has been amongst the earliest adopters of sports gambling after the US Supreme Court lifted the ban on sports betting last year.
