The move comes after a quarantine compliance order for the next thirty days imposed by the Governor of Colorado as a preventative measure to curb the spread of the global Covid-19 infection.
The quarantine will see all hospitality establishments in the Centennial State shut their doors to customers, including bars, casinos and restaurants.
Century Casinos, established in 1992, currently operates Century Casino Central City and Century Casino Cripple Creek located in Central City, Colorado and Cripple Creek, Colorado respectively.
Reportedly, the firm estimates that the closure may cost the business up to eleven percent in lost revenue over the period.
Recent, Colorado also made headlines after the states sheriff’s office published on social media asking criminals to halt breaking the law during the coronavirus crisis:
“We appreciate your anticipated cooperation in halting crime and thank criminals in advance. We will update you when you can return to your normal criminal behaviour.”
According to recent reports, Colorado’s latitude could raise the states risk level to severe according to a university professor:
“The major outbreaks we studied as of early March occurred in regions with a very similar latitude and strikingly similar temperature and humidity pattern. To us, this was suggestive temperature and also low absolute and specific humidity could hold a key role in transmission, and as with similar respiratory viruses this one was potentially seasonal.”
Century Casinos made the closure announcement just 24 hours after it released a similar publication regarding its casino establishments in Poland.
The firm added:
“As previously disclosed, the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve and could adversely impact the Company, including in other North American markets in which the Company operates casinos if similar closures occur or other measures are taken.”
