Denmark Introduces A Whistleblower Scheme For Employees In The Casino And Gambling Industry

Danish gambling regulator Spillemyndigheden has introduced a new scheme to check the incidents of money laundering and corrupt practices at casinos. It has launched a new whistleblower scheme for the employees in the gambling industry.

According to the new scheme, the employees of gambling operators can approach the gambling regulator directly through a dedicated section on their website. The gambling authority promises to protect the identity of the whistleblower.

The reports in regards to corrupt practices at a casino can b shared anonymously, and the information will be encrypted to ensure that their identities are not compromised.

Upon receiving the complaint report, the gambling regulator would make a legal assessment and then take further actions.

Danish gambling regulator has been strict about consumer protection, and in the previous month it had also warned gambling operators to abstain from misleading Bonus offers and had urged them to ensure that the offers are according to the guidelines provided by the Danish Consumer Ombudsman.

Spillemyndigheden, the Danish Gambling Authority, has issued warnings to gambling operators over the use of word ‘free’ in their gambling ads and offers. The gambling regulator said that the use of word ‘free’ has more than often found to violate the Danish Marketing Practices Act.

Cracking down on illegally operating gambling websites the Spillemyndigheden had also got internet service providers to block access to 25 such sites after introducing a new code of conduct for gambling operators in March.
