Encore Boston Harbor Subcontractors Claim Unpaid Dues Worth Millions

Encore Boston Harbor subcontractors claim Wynn Resorts owes them millions for work done at their new casino resort, reports Boston Herald.

The $2.6 billion property opened for the public on Sunday.

While the two parties, Wynn Resorts and the owner of the luxury property, and Suffolk Construction, the primary contractor for the resort are in talks to amicably resolve the issues, the Massachusetts Gaming Commission is monitoring the situation. However, the gaming commission has been staying away from the matter.

The issue has been monitored by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, which said that it is keeping itself informed about the progress of the discussions between Wynn Resorts, the owner of the luxury property, and Suffolk Construction, the primary contractor for the resort.

Coghlin Electrical Contractors, a Worcester-based subcontractor, said that it is owed $30 million in change orders. It means the contractor had to do additional work on top of the pre-defined scope of the work according to the original contract.

Talking to the Boston Herald, Sue Mailman, owner of Coghlin Electrical Contractors, said that they were assigned additional work for which they are yet to receive any payment.

Despite several contractors claiming dues, gambling giant Wynn Resorts, has said that they have no financial obligations and has rubbished the claims.
