FanDuel Top Amongst PA Online Sportsbooks, Beats SugarHouse Casino

Online SPorts betting operator Fanduel tops in Pennsylvania in terms of generating revenue. In August Pennsylvania sportsbooks grossed US$109m in bets of which the Fanduel sportsbooks at state’s casinos fared better than the rest.

The figures released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board revealed that the sports betting handle grew by about 84 percent month-over-month in August from $59.3million in July to US$109m. The whopping uptick in the sports betting revenue has been attributed to increased handle on football betting.

Online betting jumped from $39m in July to $83.2m in August. Fanduel left behind the former top performer SugarHouse Casino by a significant margin. While Fanduel received a total of $35.3m in online bets grossing $2.9m in revenue, SugarHouse Casino trailed recording $25m in online bets and grossing $1.7m in revenue.

Following the two were Rivers ($16.9m online handle, up from $9.9m in July; $1m online revenue, up from $773k) and Parx Casino ($6m online handle, up from $3.6m; $621k revenue, up from $333k).

Earlier in May this year, SugarHouse casino became the first land-based casino to launch online sports betting in the state. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board sanctioned the SugarHouse casino to start with their testing phase and then move on to a full-scale launch of online sports betting.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has also posted a 6.3 percent year-on-year increase in overall gaming revenue for August.
