Goa’s Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) conducted a mock anti-hijacking drill on Thursday at the popular Big Daddy casino harbored in River Mandovi.
The drill involved a real-time situation of a terrorist attack. It was a preparatory exercise which was completed successfully.
“Goa is one of the most popular tourist destinations not only in India but across the world. Keeping in mind the threat perception and to validate its standard operating procedures, a mock drill was held by ATS Goa on board the vessel Big Daddy casino,” read an official release.
The drill involved ATS commandos responding to an information of hijacking of the vessel. As soon as the ATS receives info it gets into action and gathers at a command post with others including fire and Emergency services, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) Team, Officials of Captain of Ports besides others.
The commandos form a team and carry out rescue operations.
In the mock drill, three terrorist elements were neutralised and two crew members who were “injured” in the operation were evacuated to nearest health centre using feeder boats.
