In its recent update, Google has confirmed that it would allow sportsbooks in New Jersey to advertise through google ads.

Earlier Apple got strict with gambling-related applications and updated its policy restricting all non-native apps to be hosted on App store. It is to restrict all apps which are not developed specifically for Apple’s operating system.

Google’s latest updates about gambling advertisements have been welcomed by the New Jersey gaming industry. Recently, cracking down on video games which offered “loot boxes”, a unique feature where players can unlock rewards after a payment, Google updated its policy and announced that such apps will have to mention it explicitly in their app descriptions.

Their new payment rules read: ““Apps offering mechanisms to receive randomized virtual items from a purchase (i.e. ‘loot boxes’) must clearly disclose the odds of receiving those items in advance of purchase.”

According to the latest announcement from Google, here are the basic requirements to advertise sports betting offers:

• Any business that wants to advertise must hold a license from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE)
• Only sports betting offers may appear in adds. Casinos and poker games are still under prohibition
• All websites must be part of the Google network sites in order for the ads to reach the end customer
