Grand Villa Casino Partners With Burnaby Hospital Foundation To Help Patients With Mental Health Issues

Grand Villa Casino is going to support the mental health programs at the Burnaby Hospital. The casino has announced a three-year partnership with the hospital through the Gateway Casinos and Entertainment’s corporate giving program – called GatewayGIVES.

Following the partnership deal, the casino will help the foundation with $50,000 to support mental health programs and also those who are suffering from substance use and abuse.

Lisa Mak, general manager of Grand Villa Casino in Burnaby said: “Burnaby Hospital is a vital part of our community. It serves the ill and injured throughout Burnaby and the surrounding area, and we are thrilled to build on our existing relationship to ensure our community remains healthy and vibrant.”

GatewayGives is a unique charity initiative of the Gateway Casinos and Entertainment, a Canadian gaming and gambling giant that operates 27 gaming properties in British Columbia, Alberta (Edmonton) and Ontario. The company has over 8000 employees and is one of the largest gambling operators in the country.

Burnaby foundation CEO Kristy James said: “Burnaby Hospital Foundation has enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with Gateway Casinos and Entertainment, and we are extremely appreciative of their commitment to once again step forward in support of our community here in Burnaby, East Vancouver and beyond. Burnaby Hospital has one of the busiest emergency departments in B.C., and the addition of the MHSU is a much needed purpose-built environment to support effective care.”

In his statement to the press Tony Santo, CEO of Gateway Casinos and Entertainment explained: “Through this program, we are able to give back and support the communities where we operate. We are very proud of the relationship we have with the Burnaby Hospital Foundation, and we’re extremely excited to be making this long-term commitment to a project that will help so many.”
